No. 9: Mike Hampton's CGSO wins Mets the NL pennant (2000 NLCS, Game 5)

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Mike Hampton was only a Met for one season, but his gem in Game 5 of the National League Championship in 2000 won the team the NL pennant and cemented his place in the annals of Mets lore.

The right-hander went 2-0 in being named the NLCS' most valuable player, but it was his performance in the clinching game that takes the cake. Hampton allowed three hits and struck out eight, while walking one, in a 7-0 win that sent the Mets back to the World Series for the first time since 1986.
