Long Island woman charged with stabbing man inside Hempstead restaurant

HEMPSTEAD (WABC) -- A Long Island woman is under arrest, charged with stabbing a man inside a Hempstead restaurant.

Elsa Saravia-Martinez works in the Miranda River Cafe on Fulton Avenue.

Police say she stabbed a 32-year old man with a kitchen knife at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

The victim was transported in a private auto to an area hospital where he underwent surgery and is listed in stable condition.

Detectives located Saravia-Martinez at her residence and placed her under arrest without incident.

She is facing attempted murder, assault and weapons charges.
