No problems found after Staten Island school evacuated due to reports of illness

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (WABC) -- Firefighters on Staten Island checked the day care building three separate times after it was evacuated Friday because people there felt sick.

"We found absolutely no cause for concern," said an FDNY spokesperson.

People were let back in Ivy League Early Learning Academy on Richmond Avenue around noon.

The call came in to 911 from the just before 10 a.m. Friday. Officials said the call was for people feeling nauseous and dizzy, possibly due to paint fumes.

There were 68 people in the building at the time, including 65 children. Five adults were evaluated and refused medical treatment. No one was taken to the hospital. None of the children were ill.

The FDNY hazmat unit conducted a search of the building, which resulted in negative findings for any type of hazardous material.

During the search, everyone was moved to a church across the street.
