NEW YORK (WABC) -- A heat wave will likely begin on Tuesday in New Jersey as temperatures are expected to break 90 degrees.

While New York City may not hit 90, temperatures will still feel like the 90s with the humidity for the next couple of days.

The heat wave in the city probably holds off until Thursday, as we'll be slammed into summer with mid-90s feeling more like 100+.

Air quality will also be deteriorating all week. The National Weather Service has issued an air quality alert for New York City and parts of the Tri-State area for Tuesday. Check our air quality tracker to see conditions around the area.
