MANHATTAN (WABC) -- For anyone who missed it back in May, the full sun will line up with the Manhattan grid as it sets Friday, giving everyone a encore view of the phenomenon known as Manhattanhenge.
It happens four times a year, when the sun lines up with the cross-pattern street grid, spreading light across the north and south sides of every cross street.
Astrophysicist Neil Degrasse Tyson, who is a native New Yorker, coined the term. The scene reminded him of Stonehenge, where the sun aligns with ancient stones.
It's the final chance this year to catch a glimpse, with sunset set for 8:24 p.m. The phenomenon, mostly obscured by clouds back in May, will happen again Saturday at 8:25 p.m.
