Officials say the tanker truck, hauling more than 5,000 gallons of a hazardous toxic material, overturned in the northbound lanes just past Exit 52 at around 5 a.m.
Authorities say more than 600 gallons of the material spilled onto the roadway.
One police officer responding to the scene reportedly suffered minor chemical burns, and two others had injuries related to inhaling the fumes.
The driver of the tanker was not injured.
