Suspected girl wolfpack arrested

JERSEY CITY, N.J. - The five girls, ranging in age from 12 to 16, were identified in at least one other incident.

Police began looking for the girls after two witnesses saw five girls assault a woman at Sip Avenue and Jones Street at 8:00 p.m.

The officers stopped the girls at Wayne Street and Baldwin Avenue. The 27-year-old victim identified the girls as having beaten her and stealing her briefcase, a cell phone and $50. Another woman later told police that she had been mugged by the same girls earlier on Mercer Street.

Police said the girls, who were all wearing red, matched the description of a group attacking people in the area of Vroom Street and Tuers Avenue.

The girls were taken to the Hudson County Juvenile Detention Center in Secaucus.

No names were released because of their ages.
