NY health officials bristle at lobbyists' campaign

NEW YORK One of the ads features a blind man asking Paterson - who is legally blind - "why are you doing this to me?"

Hospital lobbyists and a health care workers union are spending millions to broadcast the ads statewide. Greater New York Hospital Association and 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East refused to say exactly how much it cost.

Daines says lobbyists incorrectly imply that Paterson's plan cuts health care, when spending would increase by 1 percent to $45.4 billion in 2009-2010.

With more people unemployed and needing Medicaid, lobbyists argue that's tantamount to a cut.
