Plane forced back to Newark Airport

A plane that reported an engine problem was forced to return to Newark Airport shortly after takeoff this morning. Continental Flight 1884, to Cyril E. King Airport in the Virgin Islands, took off from Newark at 10:07 a.m.

Soon after, the pilot reported compressor failure, and the plane returned to Newark. The flight landed at 10:16 a.m. on Runway 22R.

No injuries were reported. Passenger were put on another aircraft and are en route to their destination.
