Alumni anger over Hofstra cutting football

MANHATTAN Members of Hoftra's football alumni held a news conference in Midtown on Monday night to voice their collective disapproval.

"To pull away such a vital organ of the university to us is absolutely absurd," said Brad Gerstman, a former Hofstra football player.

Hofstra announced it was cutting the 4.5 million dollar program due to its high cost and low interest.

The campus stadium has 13-thousand seats.

The average attendance for football games this season has been less than 43-hundred.
