Sewage smell mystery in Bridgeport

June 11, 2010 3:38:46 PM PDT
Bridgeport officials are trying to determine what is causing the smell of sewage to waft through a North End neighborhood. Residents near Valley Avenue have been complaining of the foul odor for weeks, and say it seems to be coming from a brook that leads to the Pequonnock River.

The Water Pollution Control Authority says they've looked at the local sewage and septic systems and haven't been able to find the source of the smell.

The authority plans to inspect the storm drain system to ensure nobody has illegally hooked their system to those pipes.
