Conn. police chase ends with gunfire, crash

FAIRFIELD, Conn.

It was not immediately clear whether anyone was injured in Monday morning's events.

Police say they spotted the stolen car at about 12:30 a.m. and chased it to an area near Jennings Beach. Authorities say an officer was forced to fire on the car when it drove toward him, and the car crashed about a block away afterward.

Police say the four to five people in the car fled on foot but were later caught. Their names and the charges haven't been released.

Authorities say the car, a Toyota Matrix, was stolen in Norwalk a few days ago.

No other details are available.
