Hoboken moves St. Patrick's parade after more problems

HOBOKEN, N.J.

The city's parade won't take place on the weekend next year. Instead, it will be held on a Wednesday next year.

The move comes after reports of two sexual assaults during this past weekend's Saint Patrick's Day celebrations.

Although both incidents are under investigation, the prosecutor's office said alcohol played a factor in each one.

Mayor Dawn Zimmer said that firefighters had also been pelted with flower pots as they responded to a report of an apartment fire the day of the parade.

Zimmer said the city has simply had enough of the behavior linked to the parade, so it's moving the event to a weekday.

At one point, the city wanted to cancel it, but businesses lobbied to keep it.
