/*Kyron Washington*/ is charged in the slaying of 42-year-old /*Arlene Fields*/ of /*East Orange*/. Another person was shot but survived.
The 23-year-old Washington was arrested late Monday morning. The Newark resident is charged with murder and attempted murder. He was being held on $750,000 bail and is expected to make his first court appearance this week. There is no word on whether he has retained an attorney.
The shooting occurred Thursday night less than a block from /*the Prudential Center*/, where auditions were held for the national singing competition "/*The X Factor*/". Authorities have not drawn a connection between the event and the shooting.
