More than 5,200 customers of Connecticut Light & Power were without electricity early Wednesday morning, down from about 13,000 on Tuesday. Nearly 10,000 customers of Western Massachusetts Electric Co. also remained without power Wednesday, a decline from about 14,500 on Tuesday afternoon.
Connecticut Light & Power spokesman Mitch Gross says trees and power lines were knocked down in the storm.
CL&P serves 1.2 million customers. Western Massachusetts Electric Co. has more than 200,000 customers.
