Breaking News: Firefighter dies battling Brooklyn blaze

April 16, 2012

Meanwhile, what is it about Tim Tebow that gets people to react so strongly one way or another?

I'd love to hear your take on it, cause frankly I'm a tad stumped.

He's a back-up quarterback. A BACK-UP QUARTERBACK! And, yes, he does wonderful things for charity admirable for an athlete or anyone else.

But it still doesn't explain people's extreme reaction to him positive and negative.

I bring this up because at last night's Yankees game in the Bronx, when the big scoreboard camera came to Tebow with a Yankees cap on, the crowd booed. Sitting next to him was Miami Heat basketball player Dwayne Wade, whose team had just beaten the Knicks. He too was wearing a Yankees cap, which he took off to wave on the big screen, at which time he got a big applause.

So what is it about Tebow? His fundamentalist religious views brings detractors to be sure. But I assume they also bring fans.

What's your take? Post your comments on my Facebook page.

In any event, we'll have the latest on Tebow and his fellow New York Jets, who opened pre-pre-pre-season workout camp today, tonight at 11.

Also at 11, warm enough for you? A classic Bermuda high is how our Meteorologist Lee Goldberg describes it. Many places in our area toying with nearly 90 degrees today – nice for walking around but also posing a fire danger. We shouldn't be surprised with this July-in-April weather – not with our bizarre warmer-than-usual winter weather pattern. How long will it last? And can we expect any much-needed rain this week? Lee has his AccuWeather forecast, at 11.

And we're following developments at a wicked warehouse fire in Brooklyn that took the life of one firefighter, and injured 5 other firefighters.

And any new developments in the Secret Service scandal involving prostitutes in Colombia during Pres. Obama's visit will make it onto the show. We first broke the story Friday night, and it's certainly been a top- of-the-fold story all weekend.

We'll also have any breaking news of the night, plus Rob Powers with the night's sports. I hope you can join Liz Cho (in for Sade Baderinwa) and me, tonight at 11.
