Fire guts house under construction in New Square

NEW SQUARE

The fire started in the middle of a row of attached houses under construction in New Square.

Neighbors say the home had its floors polyurethaned just hours before the fire broke out.

It took 70 firefighters from two towns to get the fire under control.

The building had built-in sprinklers that the firefighters hooked up to their hoses. They say that helped keep the fire from getting much larger.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
