Surveillance video at the Angel Fire Resort captured a curious bear entering the lobby and walking around, probably looking for food.
Hotel employees kept out of his way as he wandered, went into a hallway and then exited through the same entrance.
He was in the building for some 10 minutes, but left before police arrived.
Experts estimate the bear to be of "teenage" maturity.
Bear sightings have become commonplace this summer, and it's probably no coincidence that drought-like conditions in much of the country have forced wildlife to seek food and water in places they would normally avoid.
