Suspect in Bridgeport hit-and-run surrenders

BRIDGEPORT, Conn.

Paul Whitehurst turned himself in to police on Thursday on charges of evading responsibility, driving without a license, failure to yield to a pedestrian and driving the wrong way on a one-way street. The last charge is related to his alleged leaving the scene.

Police say the child who was crossing a street on his way to school on Thursday morning suffered a laceration to the ear and abrasions.

It was not known Saturday if Whitehurst is represented by a lawyer.

Police are still looking for the driver of a hit-and-run on April 30 that seriously injured a 2-year-old boy.
