The robbery happened just before 8 p.m. Saturday at 79th Street and West Drive.
A man and a woman say they were approached by the suspect, who told them he had a gun and demanded money.
After they handed over more than $250, the suspect took off.
Police responded quickly and searched the park on foot and by helicopter.
Investigators are not sure if the suspect actually had a gun on him at the time.
