NYRR commence 2024 TCS NYC Marathon week with 1,000 youth at Rising NYRR Kids Kickoff

NEW YORK (WABC) -- The next generation of runners commenced the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon race week with the annual Rising NYRR Kids Kickoff.

The second annual Rising NYRR Kids Kickoff helps youth develop the ability, confidence, and desire to be physically active for life.

The free event featured more than 1,000 kids ages 2-18 from across the five boroughs.

Youth runners of all abilities, including members of Rising New York Road Runners, NYRR's flagship running-based youth program,showed off their speed and endurance with short dashes and 1.5-mile races.

Participants experienced the marathon magic in Central Park before 50,000+ runners from around the world complete their 26.2-mile marathon journey in New York City, November 3.

Rising New York Road Runners serves more than 195,000 students nationwide and nearly 100,000 in New York City. The program helps youth develop the ability, confidence, and desire to be physically active for life.

The 2024 TCS New York City Marathon takes place Sunday, November 3, drawing more than 50,000 runners and will be televised in the New York area live on WABC-TV Channel 7 beginning with pre-race coverage at 7:00 a.m.
