BROOKLYN, NY (WABC) -- A man was fatally shot inside a deli in the East New York section of Brooklyn early Wednesday.
The 50-year-old was inside the 860 Gourmet Deli on New Lots Avenue when shots were fired outside just before 4 a.m.
A number of bullets traveled into the deli, and the victim was struck in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has about 22 prior arrests, some of which were for drug possession. No arrests were made, and it is not known if the victim was targeted.
His identification has not been released pending family notification.
The victim is a regular is at the deli, part of a known routine. His car was parked at the curb and he walked up to the service window, ordering a coffee.
The clerk went to make the coffee, heard shots, ran back to the window and observed the victim laying on the ground.
