Shannon Sohn | ABC7 WABC News Team
Shannon Sohn has been a member of the Eyewitness News Team for the last ten years. As our helicopter reporter at the helm of the 5 and 6pm newscasts, Shannon has covered every major story in the last decade from the Staten Island Ferry Crash to the big blackout of 2003, to the Steam Pipe Explosion in Midtown. Her part in the coverage of 9/11 won her a Peabody award, and in 2005 her coverage of the crash of Chopper 4 won her the distinction of being the first helicopter reporter in the country to win a National Emmy. She has also been featured in "The New Yorker" magazine.

Before being assigned to NewsCopter 7 at Metro Traffic, Shannon was an AP-award winning reporter/anchor for WCTC News Radio in New Brunswick, and did traffic from an airplane for WCTC, WPLJ, WABC and Z100. Prior to that, Shannon attended Rutgers University, where she double majored in Journalism and Communications. She later added a Broadcast Meteorology degree from Mississippi State University.

When she's not flying around the city, she, her husband and two children will most likely be found in the saddle, riding the horse she trained. Always a Jersey girl, she now resides with her family in the northwest part of the state.
