Home invader nabbed after stealing cheese

MIDDLETOWN Police say Joseph Weiss is charged with second-degree burglary and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Middletown police responded to a report of a home invasion at 5:40 a.m. after the homeowner contacted 911 and reported someone had broken into their home. The home was occupied by three adults and four children, who were sleeping at the time of the incident. Upon arrival, officers found Weiss being subdued by one of the homeowners. He was then taken into custody.

The homeowner told police that Weiss was removing food items from the refrigerator. Officers recovered cheese in Weiss' pockets and waistband.

Weiss was treated at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown for injuries he received while being subdued by the homeowner.
