Con Ed workers hurt by flying manhole cover

BUSHWICK The manhole cover went flying following an underground explosion at the intersection of Broadway and Hart Street just after 3 a.m.

The victims were working on a nearby service box when the explosion sent the manhole cover flying into the air.

One of the workers was hit in the head by the manhole cover. He was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

The other worker sustained less serious injuries.
