The 37-year-old woman was struck at the intersection of 201st Street and 53rd Avenue just after 8:30 a.m.
She was rushed to New York Hospital Queens in critical condition with head trauma.
The child, who is believed to attend nearby P.S. 162, was not injured.
The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene. The cause of the crash was under investigation.
There was a crossing guard on duty at the time of the crash.
