Police search for suspect in elderly beating

NEW YORK

The woman was mugged on East 18th street between Park Avenue south and Irving place.

"All of the sudden, I felt this crash against my back. It felt like maybe I was hit by a truck, or a building fell on me. And before i knew it was flat on my face," said the victim.

The 84-year-old is afraid to reveal her face or name because the men who hit her in the back and knocked her down, have not been arrested.

Her white hair and petite frame may have made her the target of thieves last month.

"All i remember is somebody grabbing my purse off my shoulder and was gone," she said.

Her knees still have a few scabs and bruises, but she wasn't seriously hurt.

Surveillance photos from the Chase Bank on Lexington and 45th were released, where police say the suspects tried to use her credit card 25 later. Two men and a woman in a white jacket.

Because they sneaked up behind her, she never laid eyes on them.

"I don't know what the person was wearing--male, female black white or green…I'd like them to be caught and punished. I don't know how they can," she adds.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
