New York City Council to vote on Muni-Meter changes

NEW YORK

The City Council wants to be able to deactivate those meters, and it will vote Wednesday on a new law to keep the meters from accepting when it shouldn't.

The proposed law would require Muni-Meters to quit collecting money when parking rules are not in effect or when a paper receipt is not available.

It is not clear if Mayor Michael Bloomberg would sign such a law. If he does, it would take effect 90 days later.
