Funerals Monday for two 4-year-olds killed in Far Rockaway fire

FAR ROCKAWAY

Services are scheduled in Far Rockaway for Jai' Launi Tinglin and Aniya Tinglin.

Jai' Launi's wake and funeral will be in the morning, with Aniya's set for the evening.

The children will be buried together Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the community is rallying around the family, raising money for the services and starting a college fund for Jai' Launi's twin sister, who was hurt in the fire.

Officials are looking into whether four fire dispatchers took too long to send EMS to the fire. Those four workers are facing suspension.

The move comes after the Department of Investigation commissioner sent a memo to fire department officials Friday, detailing the ambulance delays of the April 19 fire.

Authorities say it was set by children playing with fire.

DOI Commissioner Mark Peters says three of the dispatchers in the Queens facility failed to promptly notify EMS for nearly seven minutes.

He says some of them have prior histories of mishandling fires.
