Makeup on the go
Lauren Glassberg found there are new options for helping you look your best.

SOHO (WABC) -- There are places to go if you need a manicure or pedicure, and places to get your hair blown out.

Now more places are dedicated to makeup, whether you have a special event or want something professional for a job interview.

Until now, if you wanted to get your makeup done you could hire someone to come to your house, which is pretty expensive, or you could go to a department store makeup counter and end up feeling like you had to buy makeup.

These new makeup bars or salons give you a new option.

That's the idea at Rouge New York, a new makeup salon in Soho opened by makeup artist Rebecca Perkins and actress Stephanie March.

"I was so lucky when I met Rebecca because I got to work with one of the best makeup artists I've ever met every day, and I thought, why can't everybody have access to this kind of service," said March.

And now you can. At Rouge New York, there are three looks you can choose from, from understated to elevated, and the artists will tailor each look.

"What it really means to be a rouge artist is that you listen to your client and really feel what it is that they need and want," said Perkins.

You can also get a lip or eyebrow wax, false eyelashes, or buy makeup.

"Makeup isn't to cover up a flaw, it's to enhance what's fun about yourself, and that is the attitude we want to bring to Rouge," said March.

Pucker is also in Soho. It too offers professionally done makeup that's affordable. There's a menu of six looks.

"Like, mergers and acquisitions is for the woman who's going to a power meeting and wants to look sharp," said Julio Sandio, who started Pucker with Hiyam McKelvey.

She was in the finance world and decided to open up Pucker after she had her makeup professionally done. She loved how she looked and felt.

"I call it the change, because you come in kind of slumped shoulders and you walk out with your head held higher and your shoulders back, and feeling and looking amazing," said McKelvey.

And makeup well done can do that. Lucy Smith is so thrilled with her look, she posed for selfies in the Pucker selfie room.

"I feel pretty confident being able to do my makeup most of the time, but for a going out look, it's so much better to come here, relax, have someone do it for you, feel very taken care," she said.

You can book online or drop in at either Pucker or Rouge New York. At Pucker, makeup application begins at $40 for what's called a quickie, and at Rouge New York, a touch up starts at $25.
