PASSAIC, New Jersey (WABC) -- One person was fatally shot in a police-involved shooting in Passaic, New Jersey.
Police said they spotted three people, two who appeared to have guns, on Harrison Street near Myrtle Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Thursday.
Officers exited their car and confronted the men, and that's when officers fired their weapons, striking one of the men.
Several cars were struck by the gunfire as well.
The person who was shot, a 24-year-old, was taken to St. Mary's General Hospital in Passaic where he later died. The second armed man fled the scene, police said, and he remains at large. A gun was recovered at the scene.
Police are said to be questioning people, but so far no charges have been filed.
No police officers were injured, and the incident is under investigation.
