Sandy Kenyon sits down with new 'Millionaire' host Terry Crews
Sandy Kenyon interviews the new host of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?"

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Terry Crews may not seem like an obvious choice to ask "Who wants to Be a Millionaire?" but the new host has fit right in.

"I bring energy," he said. "I'm 240 pounds of big, nice guy, and I really like people."

Crews on the show told me the biggest surprise has been discovering how much he cares about each contestant.

"What's really wild is, when they lose I'm just devastated, you know," he said. "But when they win, I'm with them and I had no idea I'd be on such an emotional roller coaster."

"I wasn't prepared for that," he said.

Being prepared is important to Crews who spent seven years in the NFL. "I never saw football as an end. Not for me."

For him, life after football was in New York and in Hollywood. He was in "Expendables 3" -- 1 of 5 movies that Crews made in a single year. This year, he also saw the release of a new book, "Manhood," a memoir notable for its honesty.

"I had problems with what you might call 'hyper-masculinity and you find you can be too manly. You can be to the point where people in your life are alienated," he said. "People are disappointed."
