WEST ISLIP (WABC) -- A routine traffic stop on Long Island ended when an SUV crashed into a building.

A police officer pulled in front of an SUV on Sunday afternoon in West Islip while trying to stop the driver for texting behind the wheel. Instead, the Jeep rear-ended the police car and then another vehicle before careening off the road, rolling through a fence and into the building.

The officer suffered minor injuries.

The driver was arrested on drug charges.
