WANTAGH, L.I. (WABC) -- Police on Long Island are investigating a threatening message left in a boy's bathroom at Wantagh High School Friday morning.
A Nassau County police spokesman says the high school and middle school, which are adjacent buildings, were evacuated as a precaution.
Police never believed there was a credible threat but searched the school out of an abundance of caution. Nothing was found, and students returned to class. No arrests have been made.
High school students were temporarily moved to the Forest Lake Elementary School, while middle school students were sent to St. Francis Church.
Wantagh superintendent Maureen Goldberg said that Nassau County police conducted and completed a thorough search before officials were advised that both buildings could reopen.
Dismissal was at the usual time, and all after school and evening activities will continue as usual.
