Last year, McNabb made a six figure monetary donation to help build the new "McNabb Family Neonatal Intensive Care Unit" at the new Virtua Voorhees Hospital.
In a promotional video for the hospital, McNabb explains why he wanted to help. All four of his children were born at the existing Virtua, and his twins spent two weeks in the NICU there.
"Coming in we were a little worried about how things were going to pan out," McNabb said in the video.
Things did pan out well, and all of his children are healthy. To give back, along with the family's donation, McNabb also pledged to help raise an additional $2.5 million to help with construction.
The CEO of Virtua Rich Miller says the partnership will continue.
"The work Donovan did for Virtua is part of him being part of the fabric of the community and as a father and as a husband," Miller said.
Miller went on to say McNabb is very passionate about helping other families who face similar situations as he and his wife did.
The hospital and the new NICU unit are scheduled to open in the Spring of 2011.
