Police make clay likeness of cold case

BAYONNE "We think this is as good a likeness as we're going to get, based on the condition of her body," Hudson County Prosecutor Ed DeFazio said. "It was in pretty bad shape."

Somewhere, a family, a loved one, or a friend, may be looking for the victim. She is nameless still, 17 months after her body was discovered off Route 440 near New Hook Road in Bayonne October of 2007.

She may have been there since the summer of that year. Investigators could find nothing at the scene that could tell them who she was or where she lived.

There've been no missing persons reports that match her description, and her body was dumped off a busy highway with no connection to a neighborhood. She could be from anywhere in America.

The state police crime lab used her skull to recreate a clay image of what she may have looked like.

She was black, between the ages of 16 and 35, wearing red and black extension braids, a thumb ring and a chain around her waist.

Homicide investigators aren't giving up, knowing this could be someone's missing daughter or mother.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Edward DeFazio, Hudson County Prosecutor, at 201-915-1345.
