Conn. lawmakers to hear from public about Irene

HARTFORD, Conn.

Legislators are scheduled to hear from the public on Monday morning at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.

It's the second of two hearings held by the General Assembly to examine Connecticut's response to the Aug. 28 storm.

Utility workers, regulators and consumer advocates are also scheduled to appear Monday, as well as representatives from state utilities and telephone, cable and wireless providers.

At a hearing last week, municipal leaders complained about a slow response and poor communication from the power companies.

The utilities said they did a good job preparing for the storm and responding to it.
