NEW YORK (WABC) -- A special edition MetroCard is the latest New York City craze that has people lining up and opening their wallets.
The limited availability of the Supreme card has people buying them up across the city. Supreme is a streetwear brand.
The company collaborated with the MTA to make the designer MetroCards. They retail for $5.50 - the regular price for a round-trip card, but some people are reselling them for up to $1,000 on sites like eBay.
At the Supreme store in SoHo, the line literally wrapped around the block with some people waiting as long as 90 minutes just to get their hands on the MetroCard.
In addition to the SoHo store, the cards are also being sold at select subway machines across the city.
That caused long lines at one subway station:
The MTA said the machines are loaded periodically and quantities are limited so there's no guarantee every Supreme fan will get one.
