Vintage subway takes Mets fans to Shea

September 28, 2008 9:16:50 AM PDT
Mets fans are getting a vintage New York City subway car for their last nostalgic ride to the final regular season home game at Shea Stadium. Trains boarded in Times Square just after 11 a.m. Sunday, arriving at Shea at about noon.

The ride on the No. 7 train that took millions of fans to games for more than 40 years is courtesy of New York City Transit. The agency's spokesman, Paul Fleuranges, says there's no better way to get to the final game than on the train that served Mets fans when the stadium opened in 1964.
