Fruit bandit on the loose in Westchester County

NEW ROCHELLE

Fresh fruit, vegetables and gourds are being torpedoed into parked cars.

Tiffany Dennis was on her way to a meeting Sunday morning when she saw he back window smashed. Inside was a piece of melon.

Sadly, Tiffany is not alone. A row of cars along Pelham Road in New Rochelle was damaged by flying fruit overnight. In many cases, windows and mirrors were broken by gourds and melons.

Linda LaRusso was one of the luckier owners. Her vehicle was hit by red grapes – her car required a car wash, but nothing else.

Police say a similar incident happened last week. Clearly someone is not eating his fruits and vegetables, and is instead taking it out on parked cars.

Last week, at least eight cars were hit. Police are now asking victims to report the damages so that they can get an accurate tally.
