The Food & Drug Administration would get an additional 821 million dollars to boost food and imported drug safety.
However, Medicare would be cut $400 Billion over 10 years by enacting reforms to increase efficiency. Those costs are said to be covered by the new healthcare law.
The budget does include $31 billion for the National Institutes of Health, and fulfills a government promise to increase research into Alzheimer's disease.
